At Diana and Lucas Photography, capturing beauty goes hand in hand with protecting the world around us. We both believe that thoughtful visual storytelling shouldn’t come at the expense of the environment. More than relying on marketing buzzwords, we focus on practical, everyday choices to keep our creative footprint as light as possible.
We consciously choose to work without a traditional commercial studio space. Commercial photo studios require continuous heating, cooling, and high-powered artificial lighting operating for hours on end—generating a substantial energy footprint.
By taking photography outdoors into natural light, on location, or directly into client spaces, we eliminate the heavy energy overhead of a physical venue. This not only dramatically cuts energy consumption, but also allows for more organic, authentic, and dynamic images driven by real-world environments.
We rely primarily on natural light and minimal, energy-efficient equipment powered by rechargeable batteries to reduce overall power consumption.
From online client galleries and contract signing to digital planning boards, we operate a paperless workflow to eliminate unnecessary waste.
We carefully group sessions by location to cut down on driving emissions, utilize public transit where feasible, and carpool or other public places for outdoor shoots.
Outdoor and on-location sessions strictly follow Leave No Trace principle and sticking to marked paths, respecting wildlife, and leaving every location exactly as found. We work dynamically with available natural light, unique surroundings, and minimal portable lighting setups more than heavy, high-consumption equipment.
When physical prints or albums are requested, they are sourced through partner labs that prioritize sustainably harvested paper, recycled materials, and non-toxic inks.
